EPDM rubber (ethylene propylene
diene monomer is a specific type of synthetic rubber. The introduction of
EPDM rubber goes back to the 1960's and ever since then EPDM continues to be
one of the most widely used roofing materials in the industry. Ethylene
propylene rubber is commonly produced as EPDM sheet rubber, which is then used
to create gaskets, seals roofs, protective pads, and other various products.
But the actual revolution comes when EPDM rubber becomes available in liquid
form.
In the past the only roofing
option for roofers was EPDM sheets. The sheets were popular home and commercial
use but they have one major flaw, the seams. Because of the seams the moisture
was able to find its way down to the ceiling causing leaks and water damage.
The advantage liquid EPDM rubber has over sheets is that they don’t have seams.
It’s a liquid material which can be easily applied like paint by “Do it yourself”
procedure. All it requires is nap rollers or squeegee and a day off from your
daily routine.
Liquid EPDM rubber is also low on
maintenance. All you have to do is to make periodic inspections of the roof to
make sure the roof is cleaned form any dirt, debris or loose material. Liquid
EPDM rubber is a perfect sealing for both residential and commercial roofs.
Liquid EPDM rubber outclasses all the materials available in the market as
options to seal roofs. Even EPDM sheets do not contain the benefits as the
Liquid form of EPDM possess.
